case study

odyssey mvmt

The biggest project I’ve done to date, this full-scale multi-page website redesign for yoga and fitness studio Odyssey Movement took a total of 1 month to complete everything from conception to custom design and build. An incredibly rewarding (and challening) project which I am extremely proud of.

  • User research
  • Custom landing page design
  • Graphic design
  • Copy writing
  • Hosting set up
  • Domain & hosting transfer from Squarespace
  • Custom multi-page site build in WordPress
  • Video and in person training & enablement

      rebuild & revamp

      challenge.

Having been in the market for 1 year and looking to franchise and expand the business, Odyssey needed a website that matched the five-star fitness and yoga service they were offering. They also needed a platform that was more conducive to sustainable growth and sophisticated customisation.

      solution.

A multi-page responsive brand spanking new website was designed for the brand. This was designed and built on WordPress and the domain and hosting were migrated over from Squarespace, which wasn’t suited to the needs of the business. Training was also provided to the team to create in-house web design capabilities.

      process

      research, design, build, train

I learnt so much from this project. From new coding and design skills to how to effectively manage small business/start-up/remote clients. The most challenging aspect of this project was actually content and scope creep – as unfortunately with startups, a lot of the time content is provided last minute or on the fly (which means you need to be as agile as possible) and scope (and timelines) are often pushed out.

      kick off

A series of internal discovery and kick-off sessions with various client team members to understand the current and ideal future states.

      discovery

Extensive competitor research on both local and global competitors within and out of the fitness/yoga industry. User research with current and potential customers (i.e. lots of post-workout coffee’s purchased).

      design

Initial wireframes were presented to the client with 2 design options to choose from. Following this, full UI designs were created with placeholder content, working closely with the client on content (copy & imagery) & branding.

      setup & build

New hosting provider set up with domain and hosting tranfer (both website & email server) from Squarespace to Bluehost/WordPress. The new site was then custom built in WordPress.

      training & enablement

A three part online tutorial series was created for the team at Odyssey alongside two in-person training sessions of key team members to ensure basic editing and updating skills were available inhouse.
